hART – My Neighbourhood

hART is a 9 piece heart shaped tunnel that includes artwork from over 2000 participants. The installation will be available to view at Hillarys Boat Harbour for the entire duration of the Joondalup Festival. Can you spot yours?

A note from the Artist, Sean Adamas

Recently someone shared her childhood memories with me. When she was young, her mother asked her to look around the neighbourhood while walking to and from school and to describe what she sees every day. Now she is in her 70s, and she still pays close attention to the surroundings; how trees, objects, and structures make a location special and iconic. She also finds certain objects fascinating based on how they cast shadows or how they appear to change colour depending on the lighting. She is passionate in fostering these looking and seeing skills, especially in children.

This anecdote is the reason why I would like the participants to discover what makes their neighbourhood special and memorable. This can be presented by drawing the scenery, sketch of an object, or it can be quite abstract where the artwork conveys the essence.
