NAIDOC WEEK 2022

There’s lots to love about NAIDOC Week at Hillarys!
Join in on celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Marvel at the ‘Red Air’ public art installation (from 26 June) as it comes to light after dark, or take a Bush Tucker cooking course with Dale Tilbrook.
Celebrating the Oldest Living Culture in the World
Hillarys is starting NAIDOC Week celebrations early (from 26 June) with the beautiful and immersive Red Air exhibition.
Designed by Pilbara First Nations artists Sharon and Kaye Warrie, in collaboration with Goldberg Aberline Studio, Red Air features the Yindjibarndi symbol and the strong ochre colours that are used for body painting during ceremonies. It draws on Sharon and Kaye’s vivid childhood memories – their mother taking them out on Country, showing and telling the stories of the marks on the land.
This incredible artwork also represents a merging of Australia’s Indigenous and white histories and a desire to create a new and inclusive future.
Please note: during inclement weather, changes to the Red Air art exhibit may occur.
